Raw Materials (coal tar)
Raw materials from both national and international coke plants are brought to the BASA facilities by sea and by land:

Sea transport.
We have two port terminals in the Lutxana- Barakaldo. On our own terminal we can receive 2,000 to 5,000 tn capacity Vessel.
At these installations there are also two tanks that are connected by pipes to the manufacturing installations.

Land transport
Coal tar also arrives to the facilities by land in tankers.
End products (pitch, naphthalene and oils)
In the case of the distilled products, Bilbaína de Alquitranes sells them not only in liquid form but in solid form as well.
These products can also be distributed by: 2,000 to 5,000 tn capacity vessels from the terminal in Lutxana in the case of bulk pitch or at the Santurce terminal for the other products such as creosote, etc.
At the very same terminal bulk solids and liquids can be loaded into ships.
Nevertheless, all the products that are exported in containers or ISO containers are sent through the Port of Bilbao.
By land, these products are distributed in either 25 tn. thermally insulated tankers, 1,000 kg. big-bags, 200 liter drums or pallets, 25 kg. bags, etc. depending on the needs of the customer.
